SEMINAR ON PLACE OF WOMEN IN SIKH HISTORY was organized with the help of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana. The main speaker S.Satnam Singh Salowpuri delivered a lecture on the role of great Sikh women in the Sikh history. He inspired the students to follow their footsteps.

SEMINAR ON THE PLACE OF WOMEN Past and Present International women’s days was celebrated in the college with great enthusiasm to awaken and inspire the girl students to be aware of their rights and protect them by all means. A seminar was organized in which Dr. Arvinder Kakkra from Public College, Samana was the main speaker Dr. Kakkra explained the problems faced by the womanhood in the feudal and male dominated set-up. Dr. Raminder kaur from Punjabi Department conducted the programme. In the end there was an interactive session in which both the teachers and students communicated their views on the topic “NAARI CHETNA”- women empowerment and concluded that the empowerment of women would ultimately depend upon the change in social value system, attitudes and social structure prevalent in the country which can be injected through socio-economic inputs.

On 15.09.2012 a seminar was organized in the college campus with the help of Art & Living Society. The main speaker was Mr.s Romi inspired the students to change their lifestyle through meditation and advocated the power of positive thinking to lead the peaceful life. In the seminar students were also taught the different ways to increase concentration.

With the aim to spread the message of Red Ribbon Club and to sensitize the teachers and young students of different colleges in fighting against the ill effects of drugs and AIDS, a district level workshop was organized in the college campus by S.Gurcharan Singh Samagh, Director youth services on December 7,2012. Delegates from 30 colleges attended it. Retd.Principal Niazi, Sh.Mohan Sharma a social activist and delegates spoke on the causes and prevention of AIDS and drug Addiction.

Seminar on AIDS awareness and drug abuse

A seminar was organiszed by Red Ribbon club against the ill effects of drug addiction and prevention and cure of AIDS on 19th, 2013. Principal Dr. Sukhman Sidhu welcomed the team of doctors from civil hospital, Sangrur and advised the students to take care of their health and further propagate the instructions provided by the doctors in order to improve the health of their families and society. Dr. Balwant Singh Psychatrist, explained how a drug addict becomes irresponsible to his social and family duties. But this problem can be cured if treatment is taken regularly Dr. Parveen gave the information about tuberculosis. He said prolonged cough and fever is a symptom of TB. In case the test is positive, the medicine must be taken regularly for 6-7 months. Dr. Anju Singla spoke on HIV AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases using infected syringes and insincerity of life partner are the direct invitation to the dreaded disease called AIDS. Doctors said mdicine to these problems are given free of cost and tests are also done free and medicine can be sent ot patients house also. In the end Prof. Shavinder Kaur-Incharge Red Ribbon Club thanked the speaker and audience and requested the students to send the message of Red Ribbon Club to the society.

A seminar on FREE LEGAL AWARENESS was organized by Legal Literary club on September 11, 2012 in the college campus, Sh.Vijay Kumar, Secretary Legal services authority cum CJM was the chief guest. He explained how free legal aid is given to needy people who are unable to bear expenses incurred during judicial process. Principal Dr.Sukhmeen Sidhu, welcomed the honorable guests and advised the students to avail this opportunity Mrs.Gurmeet Kaur Bhatthal , Retd.Principal made the girl students aware of their rights. Mrs.Gurbarjesh Kaur Head of the Punjabi Deptt. emphasized upon the need to be alert while getting married to NRI bridegrooms.

Seminar on legal awareness about consumer rights On March 13, 2013 a seminar was organized by Legal Literacy Club in which Mr. Avind Markan Asstt. District Attorney gave the information regarding legal awareness about consumer rights. He also informed the students about the free legal aid for women against domestic violence and exploitation and for the people unable to bear the expenses of judicial process.

Lecture on the topic: Disease Free Body Stress Free Mind A lecture was organized in the college campus on the topic” Disease Free body Stress free Mind”by NSS and Youth club. In this lecture Dr. Gurinder Singh Sandhu (HBO Group) gave a Naturopathic Answer to Fatal Diseases like Blood Pressure, Cervical Spondylitis, and Back pain, Arthritis, Migraine, Diabetes, Asthma and Obesity.

Dr. Amandeep Kaur, a Gynaecologist listened to the problems of girls students and suggested remedies.


Talent Hunt: The contests were held for various items Quiz, Debate, Poetic Recitation, Skit, Geet/Gazal, Mehndi, Collage-making , poster making, Rangoli and Giddha. The winners were selected for participation in zonal youth festival.

Youth festival: Sangrur Zone Youth Festival was held at Guru Teg Bahadar College, Bhwanigarh from Oct. 7 to 9, 2012. The students participated in Group Song , Group Shabad, light geet, lok geet, Skit, Giddha, Poetic recitation, Quiz, Debate, Clay modeling, Poster making, Mehandi and Rangoli competition. Group song was recommended. The Group song team participated in the Punjabi University Inter -Zonal competition also.
The students are also provided moral education to sensitize them towards their moral responsibilities.

Moral Education Examination: Forty six students appeared in Moral Education Examination organized by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Ludhiana on Nov 21, 2012. Manpreet Kaur, Student of BA-I secured third position.

Quiz Contest: our college students participated in the district level quiz organized by Language Department, Punjab on Sep 5, 2012 Jagvinder Kaur and Gurpreet Kaur students of BA-I secured second position.

Daughter's Day: Malwa Friends Club celebrated daughter’s day in War Heroes Stadium, Sangrur on12-11-2012our students Sarabjeet kaur participated in poetic recitation. Kulveer kaur secured second position and won prize of Rs.3000 in poster making.

Legal Literacy Club of our college sent teams to participate in the district level competitions organized by District Legal Services held at Bhai Gurdas College, Sangrur. Students participated in Skit, Slogan writing, Poster making, Poetic recitation and Declamation. Manpreet Kaur, a student of BA-III won second prize in declamation and Sarabjeet Kaur of BA-II stood second in poetic recitation

RAYAT BAHRA An essay writing competition was held at RAYAT BAHRA INSTUTURE on 22-03-2013. Our student Miss. Ranjeet Kaur BA-II bagged the first prize.
